Home Renters Checklist0
Although it may seem basic to some, the following is a ‘quick and dirty’ list of what to look for before you rent a home in Canada:
Home renters checklist entry #1: Water.
The top entry in every home renters checklist is water. Water is very important because you use them every single day. You use water for drinking, bathing, cooking, washing, and cleaning so it is very important for you to choose a home with a stable water source. You should also check the house for clogged drains, malfunctioning toilets, broken pipes, and leaking faucets.
Home renters checklist entry #2: Electricity.
Can you actually live an entire day without logging-on to your favorite website or tuning-in to your favorite sitcom? If you can’t live without Facebook or Gossip Girls then you should check the electrical facilities in the house before handing out your initial payment. Electricity is very important because it allows you to operate microwave ovens, air conditioning systems, light bulbs, and DVD players. Check outlets, electrical wiring, and plugs for safety purposes.
Home renters checklist entry #3: Storage.
It is also important to choose a house with enough space to contain all your stuff. Having the knack for organization will help you survive in a house with very limited storage space. Check whether the house has enough shelf room for your books or enough closet space for your clothes. If you’re a Carrie Bradshaw-type of girl who just can’t let go of her Manolo Blahnik collection then you probably need to rent a home with a bigger storage space for your shoes.
Home renters checklist entry #4: Community.
Another entry that needs to be included in every home renters checklist is the community. You have to choose a home that is located within a great neighborhood. It is advisable for everyone to choose a home that is in proximity with hospitals, police stations, supermarkets, parks, schools, fire stations, gyms, banks, and recreational areas.
